What digital application is our district using for the Digital ELP 2.0?

Accepted Answer

The district is using an application called ESGI (https://app.ca.esgisoftware.com/login)(which stands for Educational Software to Guide Instruction).  The platform was developed years ago by a Kindergarten teacher and is a simple and efficient tool to collect ongoing evidence on our students’ developmental skills.

Question 2

When it comes to school startup, when can I get into my ESGI account and access my new students?

Accepted Answer

The provincial MyEd rollover typically occurs during the third week of August (about two weeks before school starts). Once this rollover is complete, we begin rostering all K-3 teachers and students in ESGI. Most K-3 teachers will have access to ESGI by the start of the final week before school begins (i.e., the last week of August).

Note: If your school has not yet built out classes in MyEd, K-3 teachers will not be able to log in and access student data until that is complete. Once classes are created in MyEd, teachers should be able to access their ESGI accounts after the next daily upload (usually within 24 hours).

Where can I learn more about how to use ESGI?

We have created an ESGI page on our District Assessment & Reporting Website (https://www.assessment.sd23.bc.ca/esgi)with an overview document and mini videos on how to use all the ins and outs of the application (including how to get your account up and running).

Question 4

What do I do if I am having login and/or application problems with ESGI?

If you are having trouble logging in and/or are experiencing other issues with ESGI simply contact Software.Support@sd23.bc.ca.(mailto:Software.Support@sd23.bc.ca)  They will be taking point on this front and will be able to quickly liaise with ESGI's support team to troubleshoot any issues.

What if I am in a job share or I am a temp teacher who needs temporary access to complete ELP assessments for a class next year?

In these cases, please have your school principal contact Software.Support@sd23.bc.ca (mailto:Software.Support@sd23.bc.ca)next school year for a formal request for a teacher to be added to a specific classroom (note: a secondary teacher can only be added to one ESGI classroom, not several).  For longer term leaves, teachers should be updated to be the "primary homeroom teacher" in MyEd (note: this will then provide the teacher ESGI access within ~24hrs and this is also important for many other items such as completing MyEd Written Learning Updates, having access to other applications such as EdPlan, etc.).

How can school support team members have access to view student data in ESGI?

All school support teams will have the same login to view all K-3 classes and students in ESGI.  School Principals have been provided with those login credentials to share with their support teams.

Can support team members complete ELP assessments in ESGI?

Accepted Answer

At this time, the school-view that support teams will have access to is "view only".  Non-classroom teachers in ESGI are not able within the application to complete assessments for students.

With the ELP being a classroom teacher assessment tool, it’s important classroom teachers are aware of any ELP assessments being completed on their students.  Should a support teacher want to come alongside a classroom teacher in the ELP assessment, they can either (a) use that teacher's account/computer (much like they would in our current paper-based model by using a classroom teacher's ELP student booklet) or (b) complete an assessment paper-based and share that with the classroom teacher to enter into ESGI (this will ensure there are not entries in ESGI that the classroom teacher is unaware of).
